About Us
The YMCA of Southwest Washington has been serving families in Southwest Washington and Northern Oregon areas since 1923.
Over the years, the YMCA has grown and expanded to meet the needs of its members. The YMCA will provide Christian leadership and encourage the development of Christian values for children and adults of all ages by developing physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being through its programs. The major program objectives are:
- Health and Physical Education
- Seasonal Camps and Youth Programs
- Nurturing Family and Parent-child Programs
- Recreation and Therapy for those with disabilities
- Developing International Relationships
We hope you will become involved in all these activities as a participant and as a volunteer.
MISSION
The YMCA of Longview is dedicated to put the principles of love, respect, honesty, responsibility and service into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all individuals and families in our communities. We welcome men and women, boys and girls of all incomes, faiths and cultures.
OUR CAUSE
The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
- The Y is community centered. For more than 125 years, we’ve been listening and responding to our communities.
- The Y brings people together. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.
- The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
- The Y has local presence and global reach. We mobilize local communities to effect lasting, meaningful change.
OUR HISTORY
As the one of SW Washington’s leading nonprofits committed to helping people and our community succeed, our contributions are both far-reaching and intimate—from influencing our culture during times of profound social change to the individual support we provide an adult learning to read.
By nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the city’s health and well-being, and supporting and serving our neighbors, the Y ensures that everyone has the opportunity to become healthier, more confident, connected and secure.
As we continue to serve our community, we are developing a time line of our rich history, and a snapshot of our many successes on behalf of the individuals and communities we are privileged to serve.

Goodtymes
The YMCA “Goodtymes Program” is a recreational program designed for those with special needs. It is for teens and adults to give them a place where they can not only have fun doing a wide variety of activities, but it helps teach them life skills such as independence, social skills, fellowship, communication and a general quality of life for their physical and mental well-being! This is their place where they can come learn, have fun and be themselves.
This year round program gives parents much needed breaks they sometimes need!
Started in 1962 by Mrs. Grace Reynolds, this program will continue to provide much needed support to citizens with special needs of our communities. Our trained staff and volunteer take great care in support of each person! Working with those with special needs is a challenge, but the rewards are great! We help them focus on their Ability not disability!!
Our Adult Program is scheduled Saturday evenings which include dances, field trips, and so much more.
Summer programs will vary and schedule will be out by May.
Cost of programs vary, so check schedule for all the information on each event! Scholarships are available on approval through the Membership Department.
